5th Grade Curriculum
For our project, we were given a task to come up with our own curriculum for ms. Vogl's sister's fifth grade class. We began by brainstorming as a class what we think should be included in a fifth grade curriculum regarding science, in particular chemistry. After we had decided what our group thought would be most important and critical to incorporate in our curriculum, we wanted to get to know what the 5th grade kids were most interested in and what they liked to do in school. We constructed a survey that we emailed to ms. Vogl's sister for her to give to her kids.
Once we received the completed surveys, we began to construct activities and lessons to fit the categories of science that the 5th graders were most interested in and eager to learn about. We wanted our curriculum to be primarily project based so that the kids could have a blast while learning. Here are the google documents that contain the information and schedule of our 5th grade curriculum.

Reflection: Overall this project was very fun to complete, and was very interesting knowing that we were helping 5th grade students learn while having fun. There were many factors that went well while coming up with the curriculum. One thing we did very well as a group was being creative in choosing what activities the 5th graders would be doing to learn about different science concepts. I believe we did a great job making sure that the kids would have fun while learning new things, which was a main focus for us because this will cause the kids to want to learn more and more. A skill that I really sharpened throughout this project was combining my ideas with the rest of my group's ideas to create one final idea. This really helped us come up with fun activities for the youngsters to have fun with while learning. There were also a couple things that I could have improved upon as well while doing this project. First, I could have been more patient when coming up with certain activities for the kids to do. Second, I could of worked more on the detail of an activity rather than coming up wanting to come up with more and more activities. All in all this was a very fun project as well as a learning experience.
